More than 80 children, including a 3-month-old girl, have been rescued in a nationwide crackdown on child sex trafficking.

The FBI also arrested more than 120 people, including two from northern Illinois.

During the sweep, FBI agents and task force officers staged operations in hotels, casinos and truck stops and on street corners.

27 women were arrested for prostitution and four pimps were cited in the operation.

FBI director Christopher Wray said the agency has “no greater mission than to protect our nation’s children from harm.”

The FBI said Wednesday that the crackdown ran from Thursday through Sunday and involved 55 FBI field offices. The youngest victim recovered was 3 months old and the average age of recovered victims was 15.

An FBI spokeswoman didn’t immediately return a phone call seeking additional information.
